Wine Not?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Ever buy a bottle of wine just because you liked the name of the vineyard or the look of the label?

This great package design would do the trick for me.  Paco & Lola Wine found here.

Fess up!  What wine have you bought just for the name or packaging?

Sip Back and Relax: Cork

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

I went to a great place on Friday night!  You must go to Cork!  It’s much more than just a wine store.  We met good friends there and shared a bottle of wine and sipped a little champagne in the back tasting room.

Cork

They specialize in hard-to-find rare wines as well as value wines from around the world.  Here’s the best part….Cork has 48 wines ready for sampling at any given time.  You get a pre-loaded “Cork card” to use at stations that are like Wine ATM’s.  You chose which wine you would like to taste or sample by the glass and it’s deducted from your card.  No more guessing and hoping that you’re getting a bottle of wine that you like!  Each bottle is kept in a fancy-schmancy vacuum sealed contraption to ensure that you’re always getting a fresh taste.

Cork

Cork also has a selection of imported and hard to find beers.  I love the fact that it’s dog friendly!  We spent some time with a cute standard poodle that came by while his owner picked the perfect bottle for the night.  Such a great neighborhood feel!

Cork

This would be a perfect destination for an after hours business meeting, bachelorette party, pre-game beer or date night.  They don’t have a kitchen, but offer a small tapas menu as a perfect pairing for your wine selection.  The staff is extremely educated with sommeliers on hand.  I can’t wait to go back!

Cork

Cork is located in the West Village on CityPlace West Blvd. between Fish and Grimaldi’s (behind Brook’s Brothers).

Take advantage of Happy Hour Sunday through Thursday from 4 to7 and get half price tastings and glasses of wine from one of their tasting station selections.  Cheers!
