Have you caught the Olympic spirit?  Watching the Opening Ceremonies does it to me every time!

My favorite part?  Cue the Bond music…

I’m blown away by all of the planning and building that takes place to prepare for this event and it appears that London was ready to show the world what it’s like to be a proper host!

The undertaking of hosting such an event requires the construction of a mini-city within London that is larger than the small town where I grew up that will accommodate 16,000 athletes and officials during the games.  Let’s take a peek inside…

The apartments are simple and modern and have balconies that look out onto Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London skyline.

The dining hall, a temporary structure, seats up to 5,000 and is open 24 hours.  Can you imagine the massive amounts of food that must be prepared every day?  Not to mention the various selections that must meet the taste of the world’s various pallets.

I guess if you’re an Olympic athlete you can afford to eat a few Big Macs?

The village includes a hair salon, mini recording studio, a games room, movie room, the Globe social club and many more spaces to allow the athletes to socialize and relax during their stay.

If you’re interested in owning a piece of Olympic Village, check out Remains of the Games, where already selling off furniture, fixtures, and equipment to interested buyers.   You could purchase a 4-piece set of bedroom furniture for only $150…

After the Olympics are over, the village will be affordable housing for Londoners…
