Scrub-A-Dub-Dub

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

This just adds fuel to the flame of my desire to start knitting again!  I never thought of knitting with twine, but it makes total sense to get the end result of a great pot scrubber!

twine pot scrubber knitting pattern

Here’s what you need:

common garden, hemp or linen twine found in most hardware stores

Size 7 needles

Heavy black thread

Directions:  Cast on 12 stitches.  Garter stitch until you form a square.  Cast off.  Sew it closed with blanket stitch in contracting heavy black thread.  Stuff with wool.  Wool is resistant to water and naturally anti-bacterial.  A piece of natural or synthetic sponge would work too.

Chances are that you may have seen Ice Milk Aprons in O Magazine‘s January issue.  Like other “O approved” products, this created quiet a stir for the folks at Ice Milk Aprons.  The good news is that they are now able to pre-order those aprons that have recently been on back-order.

I LOVE aprons!  I wish that someone out there would start the trend of wearing outside the kitchen!  These are certainly cute enough, don’t you think?

Reinventing The Wheel

My friend, Kelley Edler, and I have a lot in common.  To start wtih, she’s one of the only people I know that spell Kelley with an “ey”!  She also loves music that makes you “move”,  knowing all of the lyrics, eating blackberry cobbler – even if it means staining our tongues – and laughing hard

friends

Kelley recently moved to Austin and I’m going to miss her like crazy!  I’m so glad that she’s still thinking of me when she sees things that are “blog-worthy” like these ideas for new uses for old things that she recently spotted on the Real Simple site.  Thanks, Kel!

Here’s a few of my favorites…
