Lunch On The Prairie

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Here’s your opportunity to meet and have lunch with Rachel Ashwell at her amazing new Bed and Breakfast, The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell, in Round Top, Texas.

invite to lunch with Rachel Ashwell

Bud Royer, owner of the infamous Royers Round Top Cafe and internationally known “Pie Czar”, will serve a delicious lunch as we network with 35 bloggers at Rachel Ashwell’s recently opened “The Prairie” and shop her new Shabby Chic Couture Store with an exclusive 10% discount for the day!  A portion of the proceeds will benefit Dwell With Dignity, Dallas-based non-profit, soon to be featured in a full segment of the Nate Burkus Show on August 31st.

The first 35 bloggers to RSVP will attend and own the rights to blog about their experience.  Rachel, Bud and Kelley, of The Hidden List blog, will determine who “shared it best” and award prizes including a membership to Bud’s “Pie of the Month” club (just in time for your holiday meals!) and signed copies of Rachel’s latest book.

RSVP now at kelley@thehiddenlist.com and I’ll secure your spot!

Au Revoir

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Hello Lovelies!  Bags are packed, house sitter is set, and I’ll soon be on my way to the airport to make my way to Paris.  This is such a special trip!  I’ll be spending a week in the “City of Lights” with 4 of my best friends from college.  Years ago we graduated from Texas A&M together and though, at times, we may have gone a year or so without talking to each other, our friendship has remained and even grown stronger.

We decided during this Aggie football weekend that we needed to take a special trip this year.  We’re all having one of those “big” birthdays this year, so we determined it was time to celebrate a new season in life!

We’ll also be joined by Mary Cameron, Mary Charles daughter, who recently graduated from A&M and will be attending Cordon Bleu all summer.  How dreamy is that?  She’ll be starting classes next week and starting to build her skills so that she can treat her “Aunt Kelley” (that would be me) to years of delicious pastries!

I can’t believe that the trip that we’ve talked about and planned for months is finally here!

I’ve written several short post that you’ll see during my trip and I really have high hopes to post, tweet and update The Hidden List Facebook page while I’m gone…but I’m not sure what my wifi situation will be or how much time I will have;  so if there’s a small break in my communication, rest assured, I’ll be back very soon and share Paris with you!  Please make sure that you’ve “liked” my new Facebook fan page, as that will be easiest to update if my time is short!

Double cheek kisses to you all!

Midcentury Master

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Dear Midcentury Lovers,

The time is now!  The Herman Miller Event is June 3 through the 13th.  This is the one time of the year that you can get your Eames, Nelson, Noguchi, etc. “fix” for 15% off!  Here are a few things on my wish list…

white eames lounger

Right now I have a vintage knock-off Eames lounge and ottoman (found at a consignment store for $300) and it’s one of my most favorite things in my home.  Extreme comfort!  I would love to have the real deal in ivory!

nogushi coffee table

Art and function!  This Noguchi table was designed in 1948 and is as hot as ever in 2011!

eames molded chairs

Would love to have 4 of these Eames molded chairs in this color for my den.  The color would be so fund with a wonderful vintage kilim rug I have in my TV room.

eames rocker

I bought my Eames rocker a couple of years ago during this event and I love it!  It sits in my guest room…

eames molded plywood lounge chair

My collection also contains one of these vintage Eames molded plywood lounge chairs found at Again and Again.  I’ve yet to find to perfect place for it in my home, but I absolutely love it! Such incredible design!

What’s your favorite from Herman Miller?

House Proud

I was blown away last Saturday when I got a sneak peek of the most recent Dwell With Dignity reveal!  I wish I had the “before” pictures!  You’ll have to watch the DWD blog for the before and after pictures soon!

This is a multifamily home with several adults and children.  As you’ll see in these photos, the downstairs space was planned with every member of the household in mind.

I slipped in through the back door to find a freshly painted kitchen with all of the fixin’s!

As you pass through the kitchen and into the dining room, the volunteers created an organized center for mail, messages, etc.

And then into the dining room…my favorite!

Those adorable slipper chairs were a deal on Target.com… 2 for $99!  Amazing!

Did you notice the window treatments?  They were made with painter’s cloths and velvet!

Check out the window treatment detail!  They used a nickel to ensure that the “x” would be consistent!

The living area was comfy cozy and totally kid friendly!

The kids corner in the living area provides amazing books and art created by the volunteers at DWD!

Don’t you love the way that the volunteers thought of everything?  This little side table provides a table-top checker board along with everything needed for a game night of entertainment!

Experiencing the pre-reveal sealed my commitment to my dedication to this amazing charity!  There’s no doubt in my mind that the creative acts of this organization will provide the spark that will ignite the flame of expectation for a bright future!

Stay tuned for the date when Dwell With Dignity will have an entire episode feature on the Nate Berkus Show! How exciting is that?

Find out how you can be part of this amazing organization at the Dwell With Dignity site!
