The Dallas Flea invite

Royal Pieness

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

I got a call from Bud, The Pieman, today!  He’s been extremely busy lately making sure that no Thanksgiving table is without a pie…literally shipping out thousands of pies over the last couple of weeks.  He let me in on a couple of really cool things that I’ll be announcing soon, but for now I’m excited to tell you who he chose as having the best blog post after our ‘Lunch On The Prairie’ with Rachel Ashwell and Bud  a couple of months ago!

The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell

Thirty-five bloggers gathered at Rachel’s Prairie and learned of her inspiration, took in Lilyput Lodge – the main house, had a delicious lunch prepared by Bud’s Royers Round Top Cafe and learned about how we can all be involved in changing lives through Dwell With Dignity.   As a result, we donated $500 to Dwell With Dignity and created some inspiring posts about our special day.  Bud read all of the posts and loved the story that  Bridget Langdale told of childhood memories in the tough little town of Round Top, Texas  and how it made it through tough times and continues to thrive.  Find Bridget’s post, Round Top, Texas…then and now,  and learn out about her Covered Wagon Guest House in Mason, Texas.

Bridgette will receive the cafe’s 3-Month Pie Plan worth $127!  Just in time for the holidays!!  Sweet!  Congratulations, Bridgette!

Lunch On The Prairie

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

A few weeks ago, the invite went out…

Prairie Lunch invitation

and last Monday the lunch took place.  35 creative bloggers gathered at The Prairie, Rachel Ashwell‘s Texas home, B&B and chic couture boutique.  Good things always happen when powerful, creative women get together and this was no exception.

Prior to heading to The Prairie, I made a quick stop to to collect goodies for the swag bag from my friends Amie, Jolie and Janie Sikes, The Junk Gypsies and Jen Moore from HGTV with my junkin’ buddy, Dana of Tattered Style.

The Junk Gypsies gave us some super cool corkscrews and HGTV provided tee’s for everyone.  I’m so appreciative of the time that these girls took, while juggling their busy shooting schedule, to put together goodies for us!  I can’t wait to see The Junk Gypsies in their upcoming HGTV show!  It’s sure to be a junkin’ good time!

Thanks to Tili bags, Royers Round Top Cafe, and Gloria Burson, of A Modern Glo, for providing beautiful Lafco bath and body products for the best swag bags ever!  Texas LIVE magazinedonated another goodie bag full of things from The Busy B, Buffalo CreekHermann FurnitureIndependence CoffeeRound Top Handmade Soap, and  Mimi Bella. Dana Pugh used her ‘Tattered Style‘ to create name tags made from the pages of a sweet French book that had everyone talking!  Thanks to everyone who donated so generously!

Rachel Ashwell at The Prairie

Rachel was hostess extraordinaire, greeting and welcoming everyone as we ate a delicious meal prepared by the infamous Royers Round Top Cafe.  Delish!

After we finished a delicious lunch with Bud’s famous chocolate chip pie ala mode, it was time to be inspired…

Dwell With Dignity

Lisa Robison and Kim Turner shared all the great things that Dwell With Dignity is doing to make a difference in the lives of families by providing a home environment that they can be proud of.  After the event was over, Lisa, Kim and Rachel had a chance to discuss ways that Rachel can get involved, so I think we’ll be seeing a touch of Shabby Chic in some future DWD installs!

After sharing how she came to fall in love with Texas after years of coming to Round Top, Rachel showed us into her house, Liliput Lodge, though the backdoor…just as any good friend would do.  This is where she and her staff stay when they’re in town…

I loved all of the clothes lines full of linens…dancing in the wind…

Shopping at Rachel’s new store was such a treat!  We all got the chance to purchase her new book, Shabby Chic Inspirations, and then she took the time to sign each one.  You’ll love this new book, as it is full of beautiful spaces that embody the shabby chic lifestyle, full of comfort and sensibility.

It was an honor to work on such a special event with Bud and Rachel.  I couldn’t have been more pleased with the day!
