Road Trippin’ – Texas Antique Week Adventure

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Don’t you love making memories?  I sure enjoyed making one last Monday when I did a day trip…that’s right, 8 hours round trip… to Round Top for Texas Antique Week with two of my favorite people…two of my three Stash partners, Gloria and Dana.  We missed Lisa, but understood that attending the Country Music Awards trumped a trip to our favorite flea market this time!

I couldn’t bear missing the opportunity to have lunch with Bud Royer, eat some pie and get filled with inspiration from Carley Seale, owner of Dallas’ The Gypsy Wagon at Dallas Market Center’s Private Bloggers Luncheon.  My friends, Dana Pugh of Tattered Style and Gloria Burson of A Modern Glo, spent the night with me on Sunday night so we could head out early to be there in time for this event.

I did a horrible job of taking pictures during the luncheon because I was so mesmerized with all of the beautiful pictures that Carley shared of her home, and a couple of her friends and family’s homes, that are filled with wonderful bits from Round Top…each having their own story.

After lunch we were ready to hit the fields to see what kinds of treasures we could find…

My favorite find of the day was this precious pointer trophy that will forever remind me of my sweet Princess that I lost recently.  I plan to frame one of my favorite pictures of her and I think this should sit somewhere near.  What a treat for $5!  Find similar on Ebay here.

My other purchase of the day was this $8 vintage Pyrex glass beaker.  I have a set of three that I purchased a few years ago at Anthrolpologie and they are perfect for fresh cut flowers!  This tiny 125 ml version will act as a bud vase to use on the bedside table in my guest room the next time I have overnight visitors!  You can find a similar beaker on Etsy here.

I was blown away by a “first time vendor” seen beside Zapp Hall, REVELation Decor ,out of Belton, TX.

This couple’s eye for color and ombre paint effect is like nothing I’ve ever seen and I’m quiet confident we’ll be seeing lots more of them!  The painting technique looks like lacquer, but it’s not!  (I won’t give away their secret!)  These are such fun “statement pieces”!  Please try to contain yourself and not fill your house full of them!  One room can only handle so much vibrance!  That’s why they call them statement pieces…You only need one per room!

Before heading to our event at 7pm, Gloria shared Festival Hill with Dana and I.  OhhEmmGee!  I felt like I had been magically transported to a European cottage…but the reality was that it was a minute off of the road in Round Top!

I had no idea that students from conservatories and universities from around the world pursue their musical studies at this beautiful place in Round Top under the guidance of an impressive international faculty.  Who knew?  Read the rich history of this beautiful institute here.  It’s at the top of my list of places to stay in the near future!

We ended the long day with an event in Round Top presented by our friends at Dallas Market Center.  There was food (including lots of Royers pie), drink and an impressive fashion show from Rodeo Royalty.  Adorable boho fashion…Texas style!  Follow them on FB here.

In true Stash Girl style, we shut the party down and headed back to Dallas around 10pm.  We were exhausted when we got home very early in the morning, but it was so worth the memories!

Did you make it to Round Top this Spring?  What was your favorite find?  How do you incorporate your finds into your home?

Market Madness, Part 2

Friday, February 8th, 2013

A few posts back I told you about Stash’s third market experience, but I need to finish my story of Market Madness by sharing my experience at the first ever Dallas Market Center’s Sneak Peek….an exclusive behind the scenes look at some of the best showrooms and design products in the World Trade Center.

We kicked off our fun time together with a little champagne and HGTV‘s adorable John Gidding.  Yes…he’s even more charming and handsome in person… and genuinely a nice guy!

Meredith Hite (VP, Corporate Communications for Dallas Market Center), Shey Geyer (IBB Design and Designer Detective blogger) and Chris Hite (our tour guide for the day and Principal at HITE - Advertising and Brand Consulting)

Park Hill Collection are masters at finishing their products “just right”…to make each have the feel and look of the real vintage deal!

I was SO excited that one of these lovely candles was included in our swag bag that we got at the end of the day!

Top trends?  Gold, Modern lines and Texture!  All evident in Studio A’s showroom!  Full of statement pieces with such attention to detail!

Evidence in Studio A that orange is still at the top of color charts in 2013!

Lady Primrose is well-known in Dallas and, as we learned, with the Queen Mother herself!  We were all instructed to dust our sheets with powder rather than spraying them with linen spray!  (Note to self…find some dusting powder for my favorite Peacock Alley sheets!)

We all needed a pair of sunnies after leaving the Swarovski showroom…  Lots of bling with a definite edge!

We ended the day at Curry & Co‘s recently expanded showroom (my fav) for cocktails, delicious bites from Bolsa and lighting eye-candy galore!

Curry & Company‘s intention is to be a complete ceiling to floor collection.  This has got to be one of the most truly complete collection of designs that has something for everyone…all quality…at a price range for everyone!  I love it!

At the end of the day we said good-bye to our new blogging buddies and left with the most amazing swag!!  Score!!

Thank you, Dallas Market Center, for putting together an incredible event and asking me to have the honor of hosting!  Let’s do compare car insurance quotes it again!

This industrial cart is amazing!  Get to Market Hall FAST!  We’re making deals on everything that is left!

We’ve also met some special new friends the last few days that we’re SO excited about!

There’s no way I can tell you how excited I am about Tinsel Trading Co!  Martha Stewart describes this company as “her favorite store in the world!”  They are the home of the most exquisite vintage trims and vintage paper and glitter designs by Wendy Addison!  I loved meeting Wendy today and enjoyed learning more about her history with this company.

We have also found a special friend in Tara Gasparian!  Her jewelry designs have inspired us all!  It’s hard not to talk about how much we love about Tara, as her sweet spirit and gorgeous blue eyes sooth our soul…and her jewelry designs have us all salivating!

To Market, To Market

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

I have some exciting news to share!  I will be participating in the latest temporary venue at Dallas Market Center this weekend with three of my most creative friends…Dana Pugh (Tattered Style), Gloria Burson (A Modern Glo) and Lisa Johnson (Cut and Paste).  This creative temp show is called Vintage Home FINDS and you don’t want to miss what we have in store for you!

cut and paste

We will be showing under the name of my vintage line’s name, Stash {vintage finds} and you’ll find us in the North Hall, along with other vintage dealers and Trailer Cakes in their vintage airstream!  We hope to provide interesting industrial pieces perfect for you to use as display in your store, as well as art to resale.  We’ll be available to help you come up with one-of-a-kind display and styling to give your space a facelift for the new year!   If a personal consultation is what you need, just ask, and we can arrange a visit to your retail space.

To make FINDS even more fun, all buyers are invited to participate in the “On The Road To FINDS Giveaway”!  Participants can pick up FINDS “Road Maps” at information booths, Red Rooms and registrations areas to start on their journey though the Temp Show. To qualify, buyers must visit three different FINDS locations (one must be FINDS in Market Hall) and drop their completed forms at a FINDS information booth for a chance to win great prizes. Highlights of prizes include: a Stella Scooter; Kindle Fire Full Color 7” Multi-touch Display with Wi-Fi; Bose QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones; Garmin 4.3” Portable GPS Navigator with lifetime map & traffic updates; Flip Video Camera; Sofia Cashmere Travel Set; Gift Certificate towards a luxury luggage set; Agloves, mobile device friendly gloves; and a “Build Your Own Road trip” including rental car, gas, restaurant gift certificates, and hotel expenses.
