Random Stash

Stash {vintage finds} evolves February 20th, 2012

About a month ago, three good friends and I collaborated to show vintage finds and handmade goods at Dallas Market Center.  We were amazed at the positive response we received and how well our  individual finds came together to show so well!

Stash is now a collaboration of Gloria Burson (A Modern Glo), Lisa Johnson (Cut and Paste), Dana Pugh (Tattered Style) and me!

One of the connections we made at market was with the wonderful owners of Random, Mark and Shelly Hearne.  Random is located in Hillside Village in Lakewood and filled with unique finds that you won’t see at other gift shops in Dallas. That’s why it was an easy answer when Mark and Shelly asked us to explore the opportunity to style their windows and display our finds in their store!

Gloria and Lisa did a “bang up” job on the windows while I was working and Dana was decorating her oldest child’s new pad in Austin!  Stop by soon to check out the unique find at Random!

While you’re there, stop by their neighbors, one of my favorite upscale consignment stores, Ditto Boutique!  You’ll find Chanel, Prada, Marc Jacobs and more!

To Market, To Market

Dallas Market Center, FINDS temp show January 17th, 2012

I have some exciting news to share!  I will be participating in the latest temporary venue at Dallas Market Center this weekend with three of my most creative friends…Dana Pugh (Tattered Style), Gloria Burson (A Modern Glo) and Lisa Johnson (Cut and Paste).  This creative temp show is called Vintage Home FINDS and you don’t want to miss what we have in store for you!

cut and paste

We will be showing under the name of my vintage line’s name, Stash {vintage finds} and you’ll find us in the North Hall, along with other vintage dealers and Trailer Cakes in their vintage airstream!  We hope to provide interesting industrial pieces perfect for you to use as display in your store, as well as art to resale.  We’ll be available to help you come up with one-of-a-kind display and styling to give your space a facelift for the new year!   If a personal consultation is what you need, just ask, and we can arrange a visit to your retail space.

To make FINDS even more fun, all buyers are invited to participate in the “On The Road To FINDS Giveaway”!  Participants can pick up FINDS “Road Maps” at information booths, Red Rooms and registrations areas to start on their journey though the Temp Show. To qualify, buyers must visit three different FINDS locations (one must be FINDS in Market Hall) and drop their completed forms at a FINDS information booth for a chance to win great prizes. Highlights of prizes include: a Stella Scooter; Kindle Fire Full Color 7” Multi-touch Display with Wi-Fi; Bose QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones; Garmin 4.3” Portable GPS Navigator with lifetime map & traffic updates; Flip Video Camera; Sofia Cashmere Travel Set; Gift Certificate towards a luxury luggage set; Agloves, mobile device friendly gloves; and a “Build Your Own Road trip” including rental car, gas, restaurant gift certificates, and hotel expenses.

We can’t wait to share our finds with you!  Please share this exciting information with your friends that have a retail store and may be coming to market this weekend!  (Talk them into bringing you with them!)

organizing your space January 4th, 2012

You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg at an office supply or storage store in order to mark off the “Get Organized” line on your resolution list!  Look around your home, or local thrift store, and get creative!

Keep a decorative bowl by the door and establish the habit of dropping your keys there as soon as you walk in.  You’ll never lose your keys in your house again!  I also love to use them in a shelf in my closet as a pretty way to store my jewelry…

What in the world would we do without ziploc bags?  I use them for everything!  They’re a must for keeping small toys or game pieces together.

Zooey's blog December 22nd, 2011

I have a new girl crush…I’m in love with Zooey Deschanel’s vintage style and indie songstress croons.  I’m thinking we could have a great time shopping flea markets together!  Christmas albums aren’t my favorite things, but I think I could listen to her “A Very She and Him Christmas” all year long.

A Very She and Him Christmas

I just found out that she is co-founder of the blog, Hello Giggles and I can’t wait to start following!  You’ve got to check out her great Top 10 Tips and Tricks for a Winter Body!

TOP 10 TIPS AND TRICKS FOR A WINTER BODY

by Zooey Deschanel

Ladies, winter is coming up and we have to get ready. With the equinox just 5 short months away, what does the modern woman need to do to get ready for sweater season?

1. Start practicing with your parka. Wear it around the house, to a barbeque or to the beach. When a dude says, “You look hot,” say, “Thank you, this jacket is certified to minus 60% below zero.” Then wink. You know what he means ladies, right? Right?

2. Try doing everyday stuff with mittens on.
Like typing. Have fun!  E.g. ahudfnjk;afbdjfbjkls093u84urahlu = happy holidays

3. Eat gingerbread willy-nilly. You’re welcome.

4. Q. It’s the holidays! Calories don’t count, right?  A. Correct. You must adopt this attitude to successfully attain a winter steaze.

5. Fly some family members out to see you, preferably more than can fit in your apartment or house.Make them share towels.  Watch the magic as it happens.

6. Rock some Christmas tunes at work. People will love this. No one loves ‘Holly Jolly Christmas’ more than your co-workers. Play it loud.

7. Time for pajamas! You sweat at night? Too bad! You have to suffer for a winter body.

8. Festive sweater time. Get comfy in your sweet Cosby with X-mas trees or a menorah. Let everyone know what’s up.

9. SPF 1 zillion. Do it.

10.  If it doesn’t have a crust, don’t eat it.  All the best winter meals start and end with pie. Embrace this, now.

Well that’s all I have.  Attaining a winter body is a challenge, but with enough perseverance and ambition, you can do it.  I know you can.

Now watch this sweet video and let me know if you think Zooey’s cool too…

Mix It Up

mismatched vintage tableware November 16th, 2011

Match-matchy is not for me…that’s why I’m putting these Bygones Flatware Bundles, from BHLDN, on my wish list!  They’re beautifully mismatched vintage silver-plated utensils gathered from flea markets and estate sales across the country.  These imperfect sets are perfection to me!
