I just received the greatest rehearsal dinner invitation! One of my best friend’s son is getting married in May to a precious curly-haired beauty and this invitation illustrates who they are in the best of ways!
Another one of my best friend’s son, Trip Carroll, created this invitation and he’s so incredibly talented… I couldn’t wait to share! Notice that the end of the kite strand trails off at the bottom of the card. When you flip it over from the bottom, this is the image on the other side…
Brilliant, right? (See my “Vine” version here.) The cool thing is that Trip captured a younger version of Blake and Meagan with sheer perfection. See for yourself!
Trip earned his MFA in Illustration from New York’s School of the Visual Arts. His masters studies at SVA allowed him to learn from the comic, design and illustration masters that he had admired as a budding child and adolescent artist.
Trip is currently the marketing and design manager at the Flatiron Room, NYC’s premier whisky bar. You’ll see his design skills on their impressive site here. He also provides commissioned work through his design company, Ink & Iron, as you see in Blake and Meagan’s rehearsal dinner invitation.
Trip’s ability to communicate a story through his designs and art are evident in his impressive portfolio. Be sure to reach out to him the next time you need a great design for an invitation, logo, brand development or web design!
I have a bit of an obsession for pretty bowls and trays and enjoy putting one or two in most rooms in my home to catch keys by the front door, frequently worn jewelry in my bathroom, pretty soaps in my guest bathroom and loose change at my kitchen bar.
Layla Grace’s new alphabet studio trinket trays are perfect for any room in your home and I can’t think of anyone that wouldn’t love a few as a gift!
Perfect for newly weds…or your friend who’s always looking for their keys. (Confession: I think I may be that friend…) They’re such fun!
I say “YES” to them all! At $10 each, you can go wild! Check out the rest of the Rosanna table-top collection at Layla Grayce here.
I have posted about the brilliance of Jane Mount’s paintings of favorite bookshelves before (here). Her custom paintings of people through spines of their favorite books are on my wish list and one of the coolest gifts I think you could ever give anyone…anytime of year!
Since it’s likely Santa won’t be bringing me a customized painting of my favorite books, I’m going to settle on buying Jane Mount’s recently published book, My Ideal Bookshelf. You know…a little present for myself! We all do it, right?
This is the perfect coffee table book for anyone who loves to read or the writer in your life! One hundred leading cultural figures reveal the books that matter to them most! I can’t wait to
You may know Jessica Hische from her site, Daily Drop Cap, where she created a new illustrative letter every day and worked through the alphabet 12 times. She’s now designed some monogramed iphone cases that have made me wish my name started with an “A”…
but really happy that my last name starts with a “C”…
Find all of the cases here. What’s your favorite letter design?
I love it when I get an email from one of my friends that simply says, “blogworthy” because I know it’s something good! One of my besties, Sharon of Bless Your Neighbor blog, sent me the link to these adorable custom caricature and initial cups and mugs by Wandersketch. They’re the perfect wedding gift, right?
Has anyone noticed that our smart phones are becoming like an extension of our bodies that we’re able to dress up or down?
Skin It is your “one stop shop” for your smart phone wardrobe! Each skin is made from a flexible, super-strong vinyl material that hugs all of the corners and curves of your device – providing lightweight protection from everyday bumps and scratches. The best part is that they’re easy to change…with you mood…just like going from flip flops to heels!
Skinning your device? Well, it’s easier than skinning a cat…
I’m thinking this may need to be my iPhone’s primary wardrobe this fall as my alma mater joins the SEC… We’re going to need all of the mojo we can get!
My favorites are the new series from Amy Butler! What are your favs?
Mother’s Day is around the corner, so you need to start thinking about what you can do for the girl who gave you life! This year I’m giving my mother a “selfish gift”…that’s a gift that I get to share! I saw “Jersey Boys” a couple of years a
go on Broadway and couldn’t stop thinking about how much my mother would enjoy the show the whole time I danced in my seat to the music! I was really excited to hear that the show will soon be in Dallas, so I got her tickets to the June show. I’ve already told her what her gift is so she can put it on her calendar, so I’m not spoiling a surprise if she’s reading this post…
I think theatre tickets are a great gift for Mother’s Day. This means that you have set aside a time for the two of you to get together and make a memory. I can’t wait!
Here are a few other suggestions for treating your mom this year!
My friend at Grass Roots Eco Cleaners is doing something really great during the month of April. They are joining with the National AutismAssociation of North Texas to raise awareness of autism in their community. Owner Courtney Benson said, “Several of our clients have children who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and find our toxin free dry cleaning services helpful when it comes to keeping their families healthy. Because we are a company that likes to support small businesses (we sell really cool items made by small businesses here in DFW), we enlisted the help of a local business, The Umbrella Girl Shop, to create Hero Capes. The Hero Capes have been a really popular item that we have been carrying in the store, so we thought it was a perfect match for this great cause!”
