The Workroom
March 6th, 2012
I found a new little gem in West Dallas while I attended the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge celebration on Saturday!

The Workroom is a curated collection of floral, arts, whimsical crafts and antiques put together by artist and designer, Nick Troilo and Jim Wright. Starting with the colorful front porch, the atmosphere invites you to hang out for a while.
Inside is one amazing vignette after the other and packed full of unique finds, succulents and floral. This space is much bigger than it appears from the outside! Here’s a peak at what I found inside…

An amazing collection of globes was just one of the collections I found inside…

vintage planters with succulents…

a huge industrial gear…

textiles…

a great mosaic wall installation…

vintage finds…

a checkout counter where eye-candy abounds…

The side room will be used as an art gallery and a chic space for special events…

They also have limited edition Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge t-shirts! Get yours before they’re gone!
When you make your way across the bridge look for The Workroom just a few blocks down on the left at 422 Singleton Blvd. Their hours are Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6pm, or by appointment. Be sure to follow them on Facebook here.

Stash {vintage finds} evolves
February 20th, 2012
About a month ago, three good friends and I collaborated to show vintage finds and handmade goods at Dallas Market Center. We were amazed at the positive response we received and how well our individual finds came together to show so well!

We all wished that we had room in our homes for this amazing industrial table…

Stash is now a collaboration of Gloria Burson (A Modern Glo), Lisa Johnson (Cut and Paste), Dana Pugh (Tattered Style) and me!

One of the connections we made at market was with the wonderful owners of Random, Mark and Shelly Hearne. Random is located in Hillside Village in Lakewood and filled with unique finds that you won’t see at other gift shops in Dallas. That’s why it was an easy answer when Mark and Shelly asked us to explore the opportunity to style their windows and display our finds in their store!

Gloria and Lisa did a “bang up” job on the windows while I was working and Dana was decorating her oldest child’s new pad in Austin! Stop by soon to check out the unique find at Random!

While you’re there, stop by their neighbors, one of my favorite upscale consignment stores, Ditto Boutique! You’ll find Chanel, Prada, Marc Jacobs and more!
'domino' special edition announced
February 7th, 2012
OMG! I’m having a ‘Kristin Bell’ moment…the good emotional kind! Conde Nast announced today that they will publish a ‘domino’ magazine special edition called “Quick Fixes” on April 17th! I think I hear the Hallelujah chorus somewhere in the background! Do you?

Anyone who loved the old mag is keeping their fingers crossed that this could possibly be a sign that we’ll continue to see more of what we all miss! According to the press release, it will be filled with domino’s “best home derating stories, focusing on easy, often inexpensive changes that make a big difference.” Spread the news and buy two when it comes out!

I’m delighted to introduce you to the amazing designs of Casa Cole, a one-stop shop for interior accessories. Their hand-picked items are selected by an interior designer that is passionate about sharing high-end designer level product with every day customers.

Their selection of mirrors is excellent! I love the shape of these mirrors that they recently placed in this beautiful bathroom designed by Design Studio 2010. The chandelier is also a Casa Cole product!

If you have an older bathroom that needs a facelift, getting rid of the wall mirror, replacing it with individual mirrors above the sinks and adding a beautiful chandelier is such an easy way to update the look. Find this mirror here and see their full selection of mirrors here.

organizing your space
January 4th, 2012
You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg at an office supply or storage store in order to mark off the “Get Organized” line on your resolution list! Look around your home, or local thrift store, and get creative!

Keep a decorative bowl by the door and establish the habit of dropping your keys there as soon as you walk in. You’ll never lose your keys in your house again! I also love to use them in a shelf in my closet as a pretty way to store my jewelry…

Glass containers also make a pretty jewelry display…

What in the world would we do without ziploc bags? I use them for everything! They’re a must for keeping small toys or game pieces together.

Take a look inside this medicine cabinet! I love the way they used the magnetic containers for rubber bands and hair pins…

Happy New Year!
December 31st, 2011
It’s time to drink champagne…

dance on the table…

sing Auld Lang Syne…

wear something sparkly and accessorize with big bows or stars in your hair…

toot your horn…

and kiss the one you love at midnight!

Oh, and don’t forget to eat something sweet, because we’ll all resolve to be skinnier next year!

I can’t wait to do 2012 with you!!

vintage inspired star fixture
November 10th, 2011
These vintage inspired star light fixtures are as close as you’ll get to the real deal!

Michael West, owner of West Vintage Trading Company, ages the metal used in these fixtures and God ages the wood…He calls this look “farm punk”…and I love it!

What in the world would I do with these, you ask? I would hang them on my fence in my backyard, close to my deck…perfect for a Texas bbq!

Michael will even put your own custom spin on your star by painting the star or staining the wood to your specifications. Aren’t they fun?
Would you paint your star a color? Where would you put your shining star?
