That’s a Wrap!

bits and baubles May 11th, 2012

This weekend is Mother’s Day, so I hope that you’ll be spending time on Sunday lovin’ on your mother.  I certainly plan to!

For now…here’s what caught my attention this week!

owl pancakes

I’m such a sucker for “food art”!

I’m smitten with Kristine Mays’ Garment collection.

Paula Hayes’ gigantic terrariums are magnificent!

This pork tenderloin recipe with fresh herbs looks divine!

Here’s what 2000 calories looks like…

Does this stress anyone else out besides me?  Slow down, people!

I recently heard Andy Andrews speak.  Now I want to read every one of his books.  Best speaker ever!

Show your mom your love!  The very best gift…make her think you’ve sealed your love permanately….then make her happier by showing her that it’s temporary!

Ahhh, Paris!

I want to stay here.

Have a great weekend, lovelies!  XO!

More Than Words

old books May 9th, 2012

I love my iPad, but there are times when I enjoy reading much more if I have a real book in my hands.  I love the way books feel and the smell of old books, old book stores and libraries…it takes me back to visiting the library when I was young…checking out books and bringing them home to enjoy.  I just discovered that there’s a candle made by Assouline that evokes the scent of a fantasy library through the scent of paper…Maybe I’ll give it a try!

My dream home would have a library filled with old books and an overstuffed chair…

It would also contain a music library that included sheet music and a grand piano…

What does your dream library look like?

Ever wonder why old books smell?  Here’s a quick explanation…

Interesting, right?

Which image do you like best?  What is your favorite old book?  Where is your favorite spot to read a book in your home?

Mind Your Manners

Emily Post's Etiquette, Manners for a New World February 26th, 2012

One of my favorite possessions is my very old Emily Post’s Etiquette book that I picked up at a garage sale years ago.  I love thumbing through the pages and reminding myself of “what my Mama taught” … to “act like a lady” and “mind your manners”.

In 1922 I’m sure Mrs.Post could have never imagined that her great-great grandchildren would still be updating her little etiquette book in 2012 and addressing technology and social media…things that didn’t even exist then…

Emily Post's Book of Etiquette, 18

This edition includes “manners for a new world”…a new world filled with Paperless Post‘s and Evites‘ instead of mailed invitations…texts instead of handwritten notes and phone calls.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone brushed up on their 21st century manners?  Facebook and the blogosphere would be a much kinder place, right?
