Last week I had the privilege to chair Dwell With Dignity‘s bi-annual Thrift Studio and I think it was the best yet! We had an incredible record-breaking crowd of 400+ that were eager to get their hands on amazing finds in six beautiful vignettes. Here are a few photos of the spaces featured during the opening celebration…
I loved this un-expected teepee with a comfy couch inside it!
The designers must use at least 50% of the items in their space from the Dwell With Dignity warehouse where all of the donated goods are stored. This requires upholstering, painting and repurposing and results in very unique designs that inspire!
The designers for this Thrift Studio included Jan Showers & Assoc., Julio Quinones, Pickard Design Studio, Mecox, Tompkins Lloyd Interiors and Swoon, the studio.
Yasmeen Tadia’s Fluffpop brought their spinners to make our shopping experience a littler sweeter! There’s absolutely no guilt with this tasty treat! It’s gluten-free and only 6 calories per pop! We all said “YES” to seconds!! Check out Fluffpop’s site and schedule them for your next event!
For all of you that didn’t attend the Opening Celebration of Thrift Studio, I have good news and bad news…
The bad news is that almost everything sold during the party… But the good news is that Thrift Studio is restocked every single day and will be open for 30 days!! So get yourself over to The International on Turtle Creek Design Center, Suite 204, Dallas, Tuesday through Saturday , 10am to 5:30pm. Admission is free!

This is what happens when two uber talented people fall in love, get married and have their first dance. They gather all of their dancing friends and make it one that all who see it will never forget…
Congratulations, Connie and Tyler! Thanks for letting me share!

Look at what Gerdi McKenna’s friends and family did to show her support when she was diagnosed with breast cancer… Exceptional love…

Leslie Pritchard, of Again & Again in the Dallas Design District, is the queen of furniture make-overs. I love that House Beautiful recognized her keen eye in a recent post on their website with this transformation…
I couldn’t help but think about how many people would have kicked these wobbly chairs to the curb during bulk trash pick-up day… And, yes, I have been known to “brake” for fabulous finds left on the curb… You know what they say about another man’s trash, right? That proves true with the “after” of these chairs…
Hello, Hot Pink Perfection! Isn’t it amazing what a little glueing, sanding, priming, painting and new fabric will do?

What 4-yr-old little girl doesn’t like a princess dress? I’m inspired by this little princess that, with the help of her mom, has taken her love “dress up” to a whole “nutha level” with the help of a little paper and scissors!
The dress (above) was made completely on her own…without the help of mom!
Mom says most are a 50/50 effort between the two, but Mayhem (what the 4 yr-old is called by her mom) is learning some pretty amazing construction skills considering her age! For instance, she knows exactly how much construction paper it takes to make a top. Impressive!
Mayhem and her mom find inspiration everywhere, like trips to the aquarium…
and my favorites, the red carpet…
and the runway…
I’m totally smitten with Mayhem and think she has quiet a future!

I’m in love with this infographic of all of the gowns of the Best Actress winners…
I can’t believe the long list of actresses who didn’t attend to receive their award! I can’t wait to see who’s next! Do you have a favorite?

I recently discovered the wonderful creations of Sailor Rose and I’m smitten with the way they translate their love for Liberty of London prints into “easy-to-wear” staples for your closet!
The older I get, the more I appreciate garments that are well-made and timeless. Sailor Rose is all about classic design that will be good for years. I also adore that their designs are made right in the middle of New York’s historic garment district!
As much as I love their women’s collection, their designs for children are my absolute favorites!
Can you even stand it? SO adorable! Find Sailor Rose’ site here and if you’re fortunate enough to be in NYC, stop by their retail shop at 60 East 4th St!

If you’re one of the people that haven’t ventured across the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge lately, then this is what you’re missing!
Trinity Groves is quickly becoming the hot destination for foodies and those always seeking to try something new. Phil Romano and his investing team picked the cream of the crop of hundreds that applied to open a concept restaurant for this incubator. Find an interview about this new venture here.
One of my favorites among the bunch is Kitchen LTO. It’s a permanent pop-up kitchen that operates for a limited time only and changes on a quarterly basis. Not only do they have a different chef every quarter, but they also completely change the design of the restaurant, giving young up and coming chefs and interior design talent a great opportunity to showcase their skills!
Sunday I had the honor of sitting at the judge’s table joining many exceptional members of Dallas’ restaurant society at the 2nd Round Chef Tasting Day One at Kitchen LTO. Each chef still in the running presented a dish that represented a premier selection on the menu that they would build, if chosen, and answered questions from the panel.
I can’t give you much information about the candidates (or I’d have to kill you…never a good option) but I can assure you that we’re in for a treat! I will tell you that my favorite dish of the day was an oyster pot pie that was packed full of seafood. Delish!
Thank you, owner and hostess extraordinaire, Casie Caldwell, for choosing me to join you guys on Sunday! I’m looking forward to hearing the announcement of the next chef and visiting soon for delicious bites!!
My advise? Get to Trinity Groves soon and check out Kitchen LTO!
